Is NATO now aiding & abetting aggression in Libya?

After initially seeming to seek to combat aggression in Libya, the situation has rapidly changed, and the rebels are now the ones refusing to cease fire, as per African Union recommendation. By providing body armour, tactical and moral support to the rebels, has NATO now suddenly and almost imperceptibly got itself on the side of armed aggression in Libya? And are Western politicians up to the task of reacting quickly to changing situations?
