What exactly is an ABET accredited school?

I was looking at an engineering scholarship for women and one of the requirements was that I attend an ABET accredited school for engineering. As of right now I'm deciding between two schools that accepted me, one of which isn't ABET accredited. Is this ABET thing really a big deal or no? The not ABET accredited school would make my life so much simpler to go to.
