Question about illegal aliens?

I have asked questions regarding this before but have gotten conflicting information. Say an illegal man is in a relationship with a women who is a US citizen and they live together . What happens when the illegal alien gets deported (well i know they go back to their country) but what happens to the US citizen who was his wife or girlfriend? Does she get charged with aiding and abetting according to USCIS section 18 ? I'm talking about REAL-LIFE sceniarios, not what theoretically should happen according to the law. I want to know what really DOES happen. For all those who say the girlfriend goes to jail for aiding and abetting, where are the sources to provide proof that this actually happens in real life? A lot of people on here say that the citizen gets charged and goes to jail, but where is the proof of this actually happening? I need proof in order to explain this in my research paper! I have been working on this for a couple days now! Thanks so much.
