Should I get tested for an STD if I didn't use protection?

So I know drinking impairs judgement and I was dumb enough to sleep with someone without protection. I know the person but should I get tested right away? I'm a little "paranoid" like that. Only been with two guys. Should I get tested though? Is there anything you can do to prevent getting something? I'm "freaking" out. Please help!
